Question: You are a new addition to the crayon box. What colour would you be and why?
Jessica: Turquoise – A mix of blue and green, my two favourite colours. It is also a colour associated with emotional balance.
Question: If you were a superhero (and we know you are), what would your superpower be and what can we call you?
Jessica: A Pixie – My superpowers: fairy dust to spread love and happiness everywhere I go and fly to any destination I want, whenever I want. I have family and friends all over the world and there are international causes I’d like to be a part of, by give a helping hand to refugees or families with little resources to live. Flying would also be practical to flee from the harsh Canadian winters and instead go lay down on a sandy beach with my Mexican cousins.
Question: Your favourite Inspirational Quote and Why
Jessica: I have so many that I even have a dedicated board for Inspirational Quotes on Pinterest. However, here is one of my all-time favourites:
“Have the strength to accept the things you cannot change, the courage to change the things you can, and the wisdom to know the difference”. Extract from the Serenity Prayer, by Reinhold Niebuhr.
I don’t identify myself as a religious person, but rather a spiritual person. This specific quote has helped me through tough times, has encouraged me to grow and become a better person each day.
Question: What could you give a 30-minute presentation about with no advance preparation?
Jessica: How to become a DJ (Disc Jockey). That was my favourite hobby for 15 years and I was lucky enough to play with all types of gear ranging from turntables to a simple laptop and software. I played a wide diversity of music styles in front of crowds of 50, 500, andmy biggest crowd of 2,000.I enjoyed playing at outdoor events, indoor venues, clubs, and even wedding parties, you name it! I‘ve always considered that mixing is like storytelling, but with music.
Question: Tell us about your greatest achievement in your career, so far.
Jessica: I have 3 careers under my belt: Tourism and Hospitality Management, International Development Studies and most recently, Digital Marketing. I’d say my greatest achievement is acknowledging that all these experiences have a great value in how I perform daily and have all given me the opportunity to be a part of AIM.
Question: What are you reading right now?
Jessica: Performance Partnerships by Robert Glazer.
I also just recently finished reading My Not So Perfect Life by Sophie Kinsella. I love this type of girly novels; they make me laugh and relax a bit.
Question: What is something you want to do in the next year that you’ve never done before?
Jessica: Rent an RV (recreational vehicle) and go camping north of Québec, somewhere by the sea.
Question: What is one of your career growth goals for 2019?
Jessica: Considering there are only 3 months left until the end of the year, I want to meet all expectations of my team at AIM and find ways to exceed them. I’d like to ‘’wow’’ them!
Question: What is your favourite thing to do when you are not working?
Jessica: Spending time outdoors with family and friends or dancing in my living room!
