She believes in enthusiastically championing the right fit between a publisher’s values with those of their partners at AIM.

Let’s check in with Shang and see how she’s doing in her new role at AIM.

Question: What inspired you to join AIM?

Answer: Finding out about Sarah’s (our CEO) business journey definitely inspired me. I come from a family where women were pioneers in business and knew first-hand what challenges and sacrifices they’ve had to overcome to succeed. I also greatly admired the work culture that AIM was able to cultivate and nurture over the years (I stalked all your old team photos!). The team’s values of inclusivity, business acumen, and excellence, really spoke to me on a personal level. I felt like it was only natural to want to contribute to those values and be part of a trail-blazing team.

Question: Which of AIM’s Core Values (Delight, Innovate, Grow, and Giveback) aligns most with your own?

Answer: I definitely align with Innovate and Grow the most, while also keeping in mind the importance of practicing Delight and Giveback in my day-to-day. I’ve always believed in Kaizen (a Japanese term meaning “change for the better” or “continuous improvement) and the value of Grow calls to that. We can only move forward towards a better future by being mindful of what exactly it takes to get there. I also love to think about problems as fun puzzles and that they can be so unique, at times and unique problems call for unique solutions and that can only lead to Innovation.

Question: Once orientation was over, what was your first impression of AIM?

Answer: That it felt almost too good to be true! Kidding aside, my “first impression” was quite a process to form. I’m quite meticulous and have always believed in checking data (be it experiences or observations) objectively to draw out sound conclusions. I combed through AIM’s websites, videos, and work culture and absorbed as much as I could in order to realize my fit within the team and what AIM represented. It honestly felt like a great and natural fit for someone like me to thrive in.

Question: What aspect of your job excites you most? Why?

Answer: The constant learning process and discovering so many great and unique publishers are some of the greatest parts of my job.

In terms of constant learning, I’ve always been passionate about marketing and came from a traditional marketing background — with no previous experience with affiliate marketing until I stumbled upon AIM’s website before officially taking on the role. It was a treasure trove of everything about the industry. I spent hours reading articles that covered everything under the sun about affiliate marketing and my learning hasn’t stopped there. With an industry that’s constantly innovating and scaling, there’s always something new to learn every day via webinars, partner news, and published studies.

Constantly discovering new publishers and seeing their ingenuity as creators has also been a wonderful experience. I get to understand how they’ve started their passion projects into something that connects people with their world and vice versa.

Question: Now that you’re settled in your role, do you have a goal for the next 30 days for yourself?

Answer: I plan on developing strategies to find the best publishers for our partners and continuously provide my nerdy but thorough analysis to everything that comes my way! I also look forward to working with and getting to know more about my team members.
